Cougar Power in 1725

Benjamin Franklin, Advice to a Young Man on the Choice of a Mistress (1745).

http://www.swarthmore.edu/SocSci/bdorsey1/41docs/51-fra.html

June 25, 1745

My dear Friend,

I know of no Medicine fit to diminish the violent natural Inclinations you mention; and if I did, I think I should not communicate it to you. Marriage is the proper Remedy. It is the most natural State of Man, and therefore the State in which you are most likely to find solid Happiness. Your Reasons against entering into it at present, appear to me not well-founded. The circumstantial Advantages you have in View by postponing it, are not only uncertain, but they are small in comparison with that of the Thing itself, the being married and settled. It is the Man and Woman united that make the complete human Being. Separate, she wants his Force of Body and Strength of Reason; he, her Softness, Sensibility and acute Discernment. Together they are more likely to succeed in the World. A single Man has not nearly the Value he would have in that State of Union. He is an incomplete Animal. He resembles the odd Half of a Pair of Scissors. If you get a prudent healthy Wife, your Industry in your Profession, with her good Economy, will be a Fortune sufficient.

But if you will not take this Counsel, and persist in thinking a Commerce with the Sex inevitable, then I repeat my former Advice, that in all your Amours you should prefer old Women to young ones. You call this a Paradox, and demand my Reasons. They are these:

i. Because as they have more Knowledge of the World and their Minds are better stored with Observations, their Conversation is more improving and more lastingly agreeable.

2. Because when Women cease to be handsome, they study to be good. To maintain their Influence over Men, they supply the Diminution of Beauty by an Augmentation of Utility. They learn to do a 1000 Services small and great, and are the most tender and useful of all Friends when you are sick. Thus they continue amiable. And hence there is hardly such a thing to be found as an old Woman who is not a good Woman.

3. Because there is no hazard of Children, which irregularly produced may be attended with much Inconvenience.

4. Because thro' more Experience, they are more prudent and discreet in conducting an Intrigue to prevent Suspicion. The Commerce with them is therefore safer with regard to your Reputation. And with regard to theirs, if the Affair should happen to be known, considerate People might be rather inclined to excuse an old Woman who would kindly take care of a young Man, form his Manners by her good Counsels, and prevent his ruining his Health and Fortune among mercenary Prostitutes.

5. Because in every Animal that walks upright, the Deficiency of the Fluids that fill the Muscles appears first in the highest Part: The Face first grows lank and wrinkled; then the Neck; then the Breast and Arms; the lower Parts continuing to the last as plump as ever: So that covering all above with a Basket, and regarding2 only what is below the Girdle, it is impossible of two Women to know an old from a young one. And as in the dark all Cats are grey, the Pleasure of corporal Enjoyment with an old Woman is at least equal, and frequently superior, every Knack being by Practice capable of Improvement.

6. Because the Sin is less. The debauching a Virgin may be her Ruin, and make her for Life unhappy.

7. Because the Compunction is less. The having made a young Girl miserable may give you frequent bitter Reflections; none of which can attend the making an old Woman happy.

8thly and Lastly They are so grateful!!

Thus much for my Paradox. But still I advise you to marry directly; being sincerely Your affectionate Friend.

Sally Mine:my real name is sally but mine just nick name
merci so so so much kern u r so nice

Kern Delon:Who is the pic of in your profile Sally?

Sally Mine:Beauty queen

Kern Delon:Who is she? Do you know her personally? Do you want to live her life is that why you choose her? Is your life unsatisfactory?

Sally Mine: no i don't know her personal but in her image i see my self

Kern Delon:What do you see Sally?

Sally Mine : calm
beauty
pure emotion
sadness
lost
different emotion

Kern Delon:But she can reveal herself and you cannot , the one thing that she has that you have not clued into that makes life worthwhile is freedom to choose, and this lady choose in a Muslim world where there is no choice, that is a hero, a remarkable brave person , not a coward. Do you see that Sally also?

Sally Mine:she is not muslim

Kern Delon: Sally you read the Quran verse 3 of Surah al-Maeda

This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. Sally in the day of judgment in Allah's court we are all مسلمة and مسلم

Sally Mine :i love my religion so so much and i am proud to be Muslim

Kern Delon: Ash-hadu an laa ilaha illa-lah
Wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan rasulullah

"I bear witness there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and I bear witness, Muhammad is His final messenger".

Sally this I publicly testify that the greatest man who ever lived was the Prophet Mohammed pbuhn, does this make me a kafir because I choose to think different and why are you so sure your way is the only and correct way, Sally. Allah is too BIG for the human mind of a single person including the Prophet pbuhn,a tribe of Arabs and Jews, a country Saudi Arabia and Palestine , a continent , the Middle East , a planet Earth , a galaxy the Milky Way, a cosmos and a universe .

Sally Mine:of course u r right

Kern Delon: Put this into service of your neighbors change yourself and then affect change in those around you, be seeking those that Allah would seek and be a light bearer to those in darkness a carrier of water to those who thirst a friend to the friendless and a hewer of wood to those without fire or food. But your service must begin and end with love in your heart Sally otherwise it is just stage performance for the eyes of human and not that of Allah, who sees the heart motive. Words are cheap deeds costly!!!! Begin with using your mind to think for yourself no God wants thralldom but free will of devotion , no God wants for me to have to worship but to me I think God wants me to desire to worship,my choosing freely Sally Mine.

Sally Mine:no God wants I have to worship but I desire to worship, what do u mean?

Kern Delon:This is I have to worship
I put a gun or sword at you neck and I say to you say :
Ash-hadu an laa ilaha illa-lah
Wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan rasulullah

This is I desire to worship:

It is three AM in the morning ,and my body is awake , my mind is calling to Allah and I have a yearning in my heart to do salat, I get out of bed , it is dark and everyone is asleep , I was my self and I take out my prayer mat and I do my salat in silence and quietude, none sees and knows except the night and the Divine, to miss this for a single morning , I feel unclean , hungry and unfulfilled, my heart is heavy my soul is yearning for my worship with Allah.

This is food to my soul water to my parched spirit , light in the darkness of my ignorance, the breathe through the flute of my body making a joyous utterance to my Creator , the flute in the hand of Allah, making wonderful music with my life to be a blessing to others and be blessed inshallah.

Sally Mine: r u muslim ???

Kern Delon:Yes I am Sally, if you mean do I believe
Ash-hadu an laa ilaha illa-lah
Wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan rasulullah
.

My father side is Muslim and Roman Catholic, my mother's side is Canadian Presbyterian Christian, I am comfortable in both mosque, church, mandir and synagogue , and I live in a predominantly Hindu village in Trinidad. In Vancouver BC I live in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood, and here in Trinidad most of my friends and business acquaintances are mostly Sunni Muslims, some are Shia Muslims, a few are Ismail Muslims and some are Sufi Muslims. In Vancouver it is as well an eclectic mixture.

Are you a practicing Muslim woman for the eyes of Allah or for that of people watching you. If you had choice and lived in a society where you can choose how to worship would you do what you were born into or develop your own path to Allah and the words of the Bible/Quran, Sally?

Sally Mine:if i have a choice i will stay as i am at every thing

Kern Delon:I admire you Sally , you have found the end of the journey of life at the very beginning of it and hence have contentment of heart and the fire of desire is quelled in your heart and mind as you feed upon what is on the table of your parents and their parents parents parents parents parents parents parents parents parents and this you shall also serve top your progeny inshallah, to change this would be wrong, unless your Iman says otherwise, he is the thinking and you are the arms and legs of the mullah's wishes and choices. HALA ABDO SAYS :I BELIEVE THAT THE REAL JOURNEY IS THE JOURNEY OF LIFE IN WHICH YOU DISCOVER YOUR SELF. KERN DELON REPLIES: THE ONLY JOURNEY WORTH UNDERTAKING IS THE ONE FROM NOTHINGNESS OF UNLIFE VIA THE WOMB OF FLESH TO THAT OF BIRTH LIFE , AND THE RETURNING TO THE ETERNITY IN THE WOMB OF THE EARTH TO NOTHINGNESS OF UNLIFE VIA DYING. WHO DO YOU AGREE WITH OR DO YOU HAVE YOUR OWN OPINION THAT IS NEITHER KERN'S NOR HALA'S?

JAPANESE PROVERB: A PERSON ONLY LIVES TWICE IN THEIR LIFE , THE NANOSECOND THEY ARE ABOUT TO BE BORN & THE NANOSECOND THEY ARE ABOUT TO BE DEAD.

I am thinking about a person doesn't die when he should but when he can, human beings are not born once and for all of the day their mothers give birth to them, but...life obliges them over and over again to give birth to themselves.

Imagination is the creative power of E=mc2, time travel , space travel and creating from zero something . Every thing God included starts with imagination and ends with innovation and the between is much perspiration, Star Trek rocks and that's science , maths and physics colliding in a testtube and being observed, Tolkien rocks because he deals with the magic of the universe, the mystical and mysterious the netherworld, Einstein rocks because the testube for the collision was his brain, I rock because I love it all and so do you, pilgrim cosmonaut .

Convert Jericho

Convert Jericho
The Province
Published: Thursday, June 04, 2009

The Canadian Forces base land at Jericho would be an ideal location for a Metro Vancouver pretrial centre.

The area is already mapped out as a restricted access and security facilities are in place for military purposes. It's about time we in west Point Grey had the benefit of job creation and grants that come along with such a facility.

NIMBY whiners can move to Delta. Most of us in west Point Grey welcome this as a win-win partnership. Our children need a visible reminder of the consequence of crime, and so do the adults who are my neighbours.

Lets go for it and make the Jericho Pretrial Centre a reality for 2012, helping fight crime by keeping criminals in jail and off our streets.

To my fellow seekers of Orpheus lute

Dear David Marine;

It was a great gift you had given me in finding these pieces of music for your listening, in fact I am putting it on my blog so the world can share it

Enjoy for many many hours my friend carry your head as Thracian Girl Carrying the Head of Orpheus on His Lyre" by Gustave Moreau (1865)

Orpheus with his lute made trees,
And the mountain tops that freeze,
Bow themselves, when he did sing:
To his music plants and flowers
Ever sprung; as sun and showers
There had made a lasting spring.

Everything that heard him play,
Even the billows of the sea,
Hung their heads, and then lay by.
In sweet music is such art,
Killing care and grief of heart
Fall asleep, or hearing, die.

A conversation between XY & XX gender of the homo sapiens species

She: But I am just a simple girl.

I : Never yet has a daughter of Eve being simple , XX chromosomes are
themselves the beginning of complexity. I lived in an Islamic state
and among fanatics and saw the insanity of fascism and theocracy, I
live in a christian democratic state and among neo conservative
Christian fanatics and saw the insanity of fascism and theocracy. My
God is not in both, and never will be anywhere except within me and
within you, for that is where the pure mosque and church and mandir is
truly , in all of life , but more so in human life , its the sexism of
tribalism and power that calls for us to forget our commonness and seek
to find our differences so that we are fodder for the "thinkers &
leaders", bullshit, bullshit, I am an Imam, A preacher , A prophet, for
God is in me and I in God, I have nothing to be ashamed or fearful in
this world except for me to not love and help my neighbor. Who is my
neighbor , you and you and you and you and You.

She: If religion is believing to do as one would like done to oneself as onto our neighbor and it makes us both better persons then it's a good thing. I have great desire to have a discussion about that, but I'm not going to do that.

I : But at least your thinking.

She: But of course my friend, smile

I:Of course is a very rare event in the lives of most, to think is something that authorities prefer you leave with them, as thinking means anti-thesis, in the Hegelian sense , and therefore as a matter of fact since untruth lies with authority hence the reason for their existence, their thesis is nonfactual and in most instances dissimilitude in order to maintain status quo, I like that you refer me as friend the second most powerful word in any language uttered by humans, the first is hello, friend!

The bridge of love

What is it that is really happening here , why is there this chasm that you have created, I here and you there, isn't the bridge of love strong enough to take the weight of both of us meeting in the middle , don't we want to see what the other side looks and have , the bridge of love creaks with our weight and yet we have a ways to go , fear sets in and we turn back, never knowing the other side, yet we say we are travelers, I laugh at myself in shame for my coward soul ,traveling across the other side, while both feet are planted firmly in one spot, mind and body glued to here and not over there, final tears of agony drain from the orbits of sight , God why was I born so blind.

Emet - Truth ?Que veritas?

Reference http://www.hebrew4christians.net/Glossary/Word_of_the_Week/Archived/Emet/emet.html

In the Greek/Western conception, truth (aletheia) is a property generally ascribed to linguistic states: a proposition p is true if and only if p obtains in the (empirical/observable) world. That is, truth has to do with some sort of correspondence between our thinking (as expressed by language) and states of affairs in the world.

And to some degree, this is surely correct. When we affirm that something is true, we mean that the description we are trying to convey through our language obtains not only for ourselves, but for others who use language in a public way. Language, then, is not a subjective interpretation, but a means of communicating about reality.

The Hebraic conception of truth, while not denying the importance of correspondence, seems to have a different focus. The Greek conception of truth as a static property that pertains to propositions inevitably led to metaphysical speculations about “essences” and “universals” as something “more real” than the everyday world of particular cats, trees, and water lilies.

The Hebrew mind, on the other hand, seemed more focused on the dynamic, the changing, and the idea that truth involved the formation of the character of the person -- and the restoration of the world. Especially in relation to God, to Whom the Jew must give account, the nature of truth becomes grounded in the moments of decision encountered in one’s life. Shall I steal? Shall I turn a blind eye to social injustice? Am I my brother's keeper? Who is my neighbor? The truth shall set you free, but whose truth , yours or mine or theirs?

The Seal of Truth
The Jewish sages sometimes say "the seal of God is truth," since the final letters of the three words that conclude the account of creation -- bara Elohim la'asot ("God created to do" [Genesis 2:3])--spell emet:

bara Elohim la'asot

In other words, God created reality "to do" (la’asot), which has come to be interpreted by the sages as meaning that it is our responsibility, as God's creatures, to complete the "doing" of His Creation (tikkun Olam). Truth is about doing, not being...

Truth Encompasses all
In Hebrew, the word for truth, emet, contains the first, middle (if you include the sofit letters and Sin/Shin as separate letters) and the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet, which seems to suggest that the truth contains everything from Aleph to Tav:

Emet

Since truth is all-encompassing, there is always a place for it to be practiced -- there is literally no place or experience that is exempted from its presence -- and therefore, there is always the demand to live in its light. Indeed, God Himself is called the Spirit of Truth (Ruach HaEmet) (John 14:7, 15:26, 16:13).

The word emet comes from a verb (aman) that means to support or make firm, and expresses the image of strong arms of a parent supporting the helpless infant:

Aman - Support

Of the thirteen attributes of the LORD listed in Torah, two are joined together. The LORD is said to be rav chesed ve-emet, abundant in lovingkindness and truth -- even in moments that challenge us in life. Therefore He is also referred to as Dayin HaEmet, the Righteous Judge, since He alone is the One to say what is to live, move, and have being in His creation. Baruch Dayan HaEmet is an blessing of submission said at a time of bereavement for the Jew.
